As of 22 January 2024, Canada Government announced some new updates for the International Students who are planning to pursue their further education in Canada. Minister of Immigration, Mr Marc Miller annouced that The Government of Canada will set Inatake Cap for International Students for a period of two years. The student visa cap will decrease the approval of 35% from 2023.

Government of Canada will allocate a portion of the cap to every province then province will then distribute the allocation among their designated learning institutes. IRCC will also require an attestation letter from a province in order to proceed with the student visa application. Provinces are expected to establish a process no later than 31 March 2024. Students who will be coming to study Marsters or PhD will be exempt for province attestion letter.

From 1 September 2024, International Students who will begin their studies program that is part of curriculum licensing arrangement will no longer be eligible for a Postgraduation Work Permit (PGWP).
